Documents Required for LLP Registration in India
A Limited Liability Partnership do have traits that of a company as well as a partnership entity. A Limited Liability Partnership entity enjoys complete flexibility like that of a normal partnership entity. Though it is true that the compliances of a Limited Liability Partnership are limited as compared to a company, yet being a separate legal entity from that of its partners has limited liabilities.
Now let us understand what are the major documents that a Limited Liability Partnership entity require for registering in India

Since a Limited Liability Partnership entity is a separate legal entity from that of its partners, the requisite documents are bifurcated as below:
(a) Documents: Partners
1. Partners' Address Proof
Documents such as the Voter's ID, Passport, Driver's License, Aadhaar Card and PAN Card are required to be submitted by the partner. All information in the address proof documents need to be correct and if there are mismatches, the same must be corrected before submitting the documents to the Registrar of Companies.
2. Partner's Residence Proof
Residence proof documents such as latest bank statement, electricity bill, telephone bill, mobile bill or gas bill have to be submitted which should not be older than 2 months. These documents must contain the name of the partner of the LLP.
3. Partner's Identity Proof
As a primary ID proof, partners of the LLP must provide their Permanent Account Number while doing the LLP registration.
4. Photograph
A white background passport size photograph must be submitted by the partners.
4. Passport
In case a partner is a Foreign Nationals or a Non Resident Indian, the partner has to mandatorily submit his/her passport in order to become a partner of an Indian LLP. This document has to be notarized and apostilled by the relevant designated authorities or Indian Embassy of the country where the foreign national or NRI is based out of.
The documents also include Proof of address such as driving license, bank statement, residence card or government issued identity proof. In case the documents are not in English Language, the documents have to be translated by a government authorized translator.
B. Documents: LLP
1. Registered Office Address Proof
Within a duration of 30 days, the proof of the registered office has to be submitted for further proceedings. In case the office a rented one, documents such as the rented agreement and a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the landlord are required to be submitted. Also, documents such as utility bills for eg, gas bill, electricity bill, telephone bill, etc. must be submitted. These documents must have the complete address of the premise and the owner's name and this document should not be older than 2 months.
2. Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
It is mandatory for designated partners to opt for Digital Signature Certificate because all the documentation process requires digital signatures.
Note: Before going ahead with the process, the company needs to check company name availability to ensure that the proposed name selected does not contain any word as prohibited under the Companies Act, 2013.
