Important FSSAI Announcements
All are aware that the world is suffering from the threat of Novel Coronavirus disease, which is otherwise called the COVID-19. The rise in the number of cases of COVID-19 infection in India and the rest of the world has induced great apprehension.
Many food business operators (FBOs) have now come to a halt due to the lockdown. They are currently not able to fulfill their regular compliance. Many of the FBOs having FSSAI registration or food license are not able to renew their FSSAI licenses or FSSAI registration certificates.
In order to mitigate the stress of such FBOs, the apex food safety regulator FSSAI has now made a few announcements as listed below:
Cash and Demand Draft Options for submission of License and Registration fee will be removed wef 17th August 2020. Applicants are requested to submit receipts of already made payments by 16th August 2020.
FSSAI has launched a Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) in the States/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Gujarat, Goa,Odisha, Manipur, Delhi, Chandigarh and Ladakh with effect from 1st June 2020. This system replaces the existing online Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS). This new approach is only for manufacturers of standardised food products
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has decided to give additional time to the food business operators (FBOs) for the renewal of FSSAI licenses and FSSAI registration. Hence, the due date for renewal of FSSAI Registration/license is extended till June 30, 2020.
