What is FoSCoS?
Since 2011, the FSSAI’s online licensing platform FLRS (Food Licensing and Registration System) is the soul of the licensing ecosystem with 100% India (all State and UTs) coverage, 70 lakh licenses/ registrations issued till date, over 35 lakhs licensees/ registrants actively transacting on it. FSSAI has launched a Food Safety Compliance System in the States/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Gujarat, Goa,Odisha, Manipur, Delhi, Chandigarh and Ladakh with effect from 1st June 2020. This system replaces the existing online Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS- https://foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in) Users of these States/UTs are now required to visit https://foscos.fssai.gov.in and login through same user ids and passwords.
Concept of FoSCoS
FoSCoS is conceptualized to provide one point stop for all engagements of an FBO with the department for any regulatory compliance transaction. FoSCoS has been integrated with the FoSCoRIS mobile app and will soon integrate with present IT platforms of FSSAI such as INFOLNet, FoSTaC, FICS, FPVIS etc. Sample management, improvement notices, adjudications, audit management system etc activities/ modules will be enabled in phased manner in future.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a legal authority that offers a food license to all food business operators (FBO) in India. All the FBOs must follow all the rules and regulations of FSSAI for food quality control.FSSAI Registration is required for all food related businesses such as manufacturers, traders, restaurants, small eateries, grocery shop, importers, exporters, home based food businesses, dairy farms, processors, retailers, e-tailers, who are involved in food business must obtain a 14-digit registration Number or a Food license number which must be printed on food packages or Displayed in Premises. This 14 digit FSSAI license number gives data about the producer's permit or enrollment subtle elements, and the assembling state.
